The movie looks fantastic though.  I'm pretty excited.

That’s pretty funny.

I was pretty bummed when I found out that there was even the remotest possibility that he was going to play the role. I guess I didn't REALLY believe that he would get it. Why the hell would hollywood cast someone as controversial as Hanson, as you so elegantly put it, in a 20 million dollar movie and expect the general public to pay to see it? They wouldn’t, not when you can get pretty boy Depp to play the character and pull in the bucks.

Was there "really" talk of it (in Hollywood I mean), or just fans going off because of that one silly music video? I didn't realize anyone was actually planning on making the Manson version.

I remember seeing a something once, where Manson made some kind of public statement saying that he would like to play the role of Wonka when Burton said the movie was going to be made. I honestly don't think that he was ever being considered for the role by the people that matter in Hollywood.

Like you said, it was his fans and people, like me I guess, that kept the rumor going.
